Join us for a lovely, socially distanced night in for a good cause, sponsored by The Rotary Club of Kansas City and The Rotaract Club of Western Kansas City.
Pinot for Polio 2020 is raising funds for End Polio Now through The Wine Workshop. The Wine Workshop will be a 60-minute live webinar designed for fun, easy, info-packed wine education. Toss a pizza in the oven, put on the comfy clothes, pop a bottle of whatever, and get ready to relax and learn, all while raising money to eradicate Polio!
The Wine Workshop was developed by sommelier Jason Kallsen. Jason is a Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers, a Certified Specialist of Wine with the Society of Wine Educators, and a Certified Sherry Specialist. He brings over two decades of professional experience in all aspects of the wine business: restaurant, retail, wholesale, import, and marketing.
Head to your local independent fine wine shop and grab a bottle or two from this list, at whatever price points suit you:
- Viognier from Australia
- Gruner Veltliner from Austria
- Dry Portuguese red wine from the Douro or the Dão regions
- And in fitting with the theme, Pinot Noir from anywhere!
Cellar Rat Wine Merchants, Village West Discount Liquor and Gomer's of Kansas have all four types of wine in stock that we will discuss during the workshop.
100% of all registration fees from this event will go to Rotary Fund for the eradication of polio. Thanks to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, these contributions will be matched 2-to-1. Additionally, a 100% of all auction and raffle proceeds will go directly to the Rotary Fund and credited to each individual contributor.
An online after party will begin at 8 p.m. that will feature Zoom break out rooms, live drawing by Billy Peters that will be auctioned, as well as online auction of donated items and services. Pinots for Polio Auction can be added as part of your evening or as a separate event for those not able to make the 7 p.m. virtual wine tasting event.
